Magnifying lenses, which are implanted are available to help those with macular disease see better. But, no trials have been done to prove how useful they are or who they are most suitable for.

Dr Julie Silvestri from Royal Hospitals, Belfast, will be joining us for our first webinar of the month to discuss the first clinical trial being undertaken by her team, investigating the effectiveness of these lens implants.

As part of Dr Silvestri's Macular Society-funded project, 25 patients will be fitted with magnifying lenses. The researchers will then compare these patients to those without the lens, and those with a magnifying contact lens.

Learn how this trial could not only determine the efficiency of the lenses but also establish standardised guidelines for the use. The My Macular and Me webinar will be taking place live at 7pm on Tuesday 19 March.
