Did you get your full vision back after macular hole surgery?

Has anyone gotten the macular hole operation and recovered vision?

If so....How long did it take to recover?

At the moment I have the constant distorted view in the center of my right eye.

I also have the pulsing dark spot in the middle of my right eye, that I can only see first thing in the morning when I first open my eyes and disappears very shortly. This is a new occurrence so I thought they may be related?

I am very scared.

I don’t know how I will be able to cope with looking down 24/7.... I am a home hemodialysis patient.

Any info you may like to share will be greatly appreciated.

Hi my best friend did get her sight completely back after a second operation and keeping her head down for 2 weeks so the gas bubble could work in repairing the hole. She has better sight now than she ever had. So it is possible.

Have you had to operation yet? If not, we have maculae hole buddies who we can arrange to contact you to talk about their experiences with the operation etc.

Posturing after the operation is very important thing to do, but the time someone has to spend face down differs depending on your own needs, usually most people tend to posture for a few days. When posturing, you are allowed to get up every hour or so for about ten minutes. We suggest wearing comfy clothes, having things nearby such as drinks and entertainment. If possible, have someone come help you prepare meals etc. so you don't have to worry about that etc. Again, our macular hole buddies can share with you how they managed their posturing.

If you are concerned about how to manage your hemodialysis during this time, it'd be worth speaking to your consultant about this.
