I have recently had an eye test at a local none high street optician. A prism has been included in both lense, even the right eye with no central vision. If there is any improvement it is not enough to warrant new specs. I can return them within 2 months. I know prism is good for double vision but has anyone found it helpful for damaged sight from AMD?
Best wishes to all.

Hi Bobbie. Nice to hear from you. I have found this on Google - it is an American site but it's very informative. Have a read, it may help. I hope you are keeping well.
Hi springcross. Thanks for your reply. There is so much info out there, it makes you think there must be something that will enable me to see better. I was impressed by the web site of this local optician, they mention macular degeneration and also have an OCT scanner. I have varifocal glasses at the moment, bought before the big loss of sight! I wasn’t expecting a miracle but for reading there is so little difference with the prism and when I lift my eyes from the print, everything is blurred!!
I’m ok thanks, just tired having to do more now hubby not in good health. I should have kept my eye on the ball. Now it’s a big learning curve trying to do things with poor sight. Take care, Bobbie.
I think what your saying is that you have had your prisms incorporated into your lenses but they have been split between both lenses so that you have a prism now in both lenses not just the one with better sight?
This is common practice and is done because if it was just put into one lens than one lens would be a lot thicker than the other. It works just as well being split even if you have very little central vision in the other eye. I myself have had mine split and in my poor eye have 1/60 vision and the prism works well.
