Hi

First and foremost I have to say I am so grateful for this community and hearing other people's stories.

I recently had an anti VEGF as it was identified I had myopic macular degeneration. For those that saw improvements in their vision after anti. VEGF injection? How long did it take?

Thanks in advance

Hi, it took like about two and a half months to recover sight. Another month to recover 90% of sight. Another bleed a month ago but not in the center. Unfortunately this week a big bleed in other eye, injection is being applicated right now

I get a rapid response if I have an injection for an active bleed, but it took about 3 months and 2 shots to get all the improvement that was achieved after the first bleed. I now have regular injections to prevent further bleeds, but I do get the odd recurrence though less often and less severe than I used to - I’ve been getting injections for about 12 years

What did dr say about recurrence?. Another bleed few hours ago in good eye. Waiting for the injection today. How often do you have the injections?

Injection schedule is individual depending on the selected product (Avastin, Lucentis, Eyelea etc) and assessment of the risk of a bleed

Has varied, for me, from 6 weekly Lucentis to 12 weekly Avastin. Currently Avastin every 10 weeks

Dear Dmes83,

If there are going to be any improvements in vision, then it tends to be within the first 2 or 3 injections. The main function of the injections is to stabilise the eye, maintain vision and prevent further damage. I have copied a link to our information on Myopic macular degeneration:
