Unlike yourself I am fine with iodine I have had about 100 injections now. I wonder though if they could do a test a bit like a patch test for hair dye to check if you are too sensitive to iodine. Iodine is one of the best things to use hence it’s wide use and a lot of people can have it without an effect. Also there are 2 different strengths of iodine sone are ok with the lesser strength.

HI orange sky , I had an anjection on Tuesday , two days ago, and they were heavy on the iodine which has caused me some discomfort. It's never been a problem before. I'm in Cyprus so don't know if they would be prepared to use something else.

Hi orangesky. Did they use anything else? I was told that they have to use something to protect against infection.

I think as has been mentioned that iodine is the most effective antiseptic. If a less effective antiseptic is used and an infection occurs, the hospital could be criticised for not using iodine, so they play safe. Why use second best for something so critical?

Has this ever happened to you !

It happened to me three times and there is no other pain as bad other than childbirth.... I was seriously thinking of stopping because of the pain, that’s how I ended up I’m emerg, my nurse practitioner send an email to the doc, asking him to find something else and he did,but I will certainly ask at my next appointment.

Hi

I will ask what they use for me now ,maybe a milder iodine, but I know it hurts like crazy, I also had them put an eye patch on and tape it that helped some as well.

I don’t go to a hospital it’s at the doc office. I also use to take a Tylenol 2 about 20 minutes before injection.hope it helps

I’m not allergic to iodine but have had some nasty after effects when it’s been used rather heavily. I now ask for my eyes to be really well washed out after the injections before I leave, and this does seem to have solved the problem.
