Using technology for visually impaired

I attended a talk last week on technology to help visually impaired - what an amazing amount of help there is on smart phones and tablets to read letters etc. I think if I had had some training at the same time as my brother who was registered blind with AMD and died in November, I would have been able to help more as his training was sporadic and he tended to forget some things in between sessions It reminded me that it is great to be independent but I think it is important too to ask for help and include others in what you are going through.
