Hi. Had my meeting with consultant following third injection for CNV two weeks ago. He said the macular fluid had decreased a lot. He prescribed one more injection which I had a few days after seeing him. I'm not sure what happens now. I've had a letter with details of my eyesight and treatment I've had. At the bottom of the letter it says Management plan: PRN protocol. Does anyone know exactly what this means.
By the way my second two injections were a walk in the park compared to the first two. Wonder if they get easier.

Hi there PRN means pro re nata in other words treatment will be given when needed. Basically you are given 3 loading injections regardless of results and now you are on PRN so you will just have injections when needed.
Hi tallyho. Thanks for that. I'm glad people on this site are so well informed. I have no other appointments lined up. I wonder if I will be sent for check ups. Thanks again for the reply.
Thanks. I will chase them up if I don't hear anything soon as eyesright says we can be forgotten about sometimes. I guess it's to be expected occasionally with our overstretched NHS.
Ring your clinic and ask when you will be reviewed. Sometimes they forget to schedule us! It's usual for the gap between inj to get longer as long as you continue to improve/ be stable. However, if things aren't going well then you need to be seen so monitor with the amsler and dont hesitate to call them if you feel there's deterioration. 4 weeks is the minimum time between inj. Best of luck.
I had several Avastin injections which helped get rid of the fluid and improve my vision. The only side effect was at my I got very red. Then a year later I got an injection of Avastin which left a silicon bubble in Mayeye that took 14 months to dissipate and interfered with my vision and reading. I did not need another injection for a year. Just had one recently with terrible side effects. My vision is worse the reading part that is, I have to go back again and use Eyelea Yes I refuse to use a vast and again
