Shimmering
Yes I do! I have had retinal migraines that shimmer in the periphery of my eye and I think it could be something like that. Does it go away after a time or always there?
Yes, it sounds indeed like visual migraine, which I get from time to time. Mine are like black and white chevrons flickering across usually one eye, but it hampers the vision in both eyes when I can hardly see anything for about 20 minutes. But it does not happen every day or even every week. It seems to come on for no reason at all.
I have this visual migraine but very rarely; about once or twice a year for about 20 minutes. It's important that when you see it coming on to go into a dark room, lay down and close your eyes till it disappears; usually within 30 minutes; sometimes sooner; and then wear Sun glasses for a while. If you just try and work through it then it normally gets worse and you can have it return 2 or 3 times during the day. Taking a couple of Paracetamol when it first comes on can stop headaches starting.
Nobody seems to know what brings this on but a Sun glint off chrome metal has been known to trigger it in my case.
