I got a letter from the eye hospital on Monday, stating that i had had a review on the 10th august, 3 days after a normal eye injection ??. i rang the hospital and asked about this, what it meant, she said its to check how your getting on, so i said i didnt attend hospital that day, she seemed to brush me of "oh you must have" she said, i told her no i didnt, i was at home all day on the 10th, with workmen at my home doing variuos work, she did say that to have a review you have to attend the hospital, so now i have to wait until my next appointment to ask the doctor about this. I dont want it on my records that ive been reviewed when i havent !! as i could possible miss out on a review i do need, any thoughts everyone ??

Dear taylor9,
Who did you speak to at the hospital, the appointments clerk or the ophthalmologist's secretary? If it was the appointments clerk, it would be worth you ringing the ophthalmologist's secretary and explaining the situation.
From my reading of this, you are stating that you were told that you attended a review at the hospital which you didn't. Just to clarify, have you missed an injection appointment as a result of this mix up? If so, it is obviously essential that you also flag this up with the ophthalmologist's secretary so that another can be organised as quickly as possible.

Kind regards,
Hi Rosalyn, i spoke to two people, one was my consultants secretary, and they are both adamant i had this app, ointment, in fact the secretary got quite stroppy with me !!, i never had either a letter to attend on this day, or a phone call to ask me to attend, and i definatly did not attend. i do have a letter advising me to by home on the 10th for the work to be carried out on my home though, im quite annoyed about it to be honest
Dear taylor9,
It may be worth emailing your ophthalmologist's secretary, if this is an option for you and making it clear that as a result of this error your medical records will be incorrect. It would be worth asking them if they could let you know the nature of the entry on your medical records for that day, making it clear that you are concerned in case it impacts on your treatment.
Kind regards,

hi again, i have rung my consultants secretary again, it doesnt matter what say to her, she is adamant i did attend on the 10th August, ive told her i was definatley not there, but nothing i saw will convince her otherwise, so i wll have to wait until my next appointment and have a word with the doctor then, so frustrating realy, i did ask about sending an email, but she wouldnt give me an email address !
Hi, it might be worth checking with them if they have another patient with a similar name. I would also recommend you ring PALS up at the hospital as they could look into it for you as well, and express your concern to the consultant
Thank you, im a bit wary of contacting PALS really, because of a previous experience a few months ago.
What happened with PALS? I've had them highly recommended, as if they are very powerful/have loads of clout. However when I rang Macclesfield PALS to express my concern, I spoke to a very meek woman and all she said was, upon my pressing her, "I'll raise your concern".
(My "concern" is that having paid £1300+ for one Eylea inj. for wet AMD, I am faced with the prospect of having to find another £1300+ down the back of the sofa, as if, because I CAN'T get them to give me an NHS appmt. "All the Governments fault; nothing we can do; 6 week waiting list". Don't worry I am writing to EVERYONE I can think of and yes even Stephen Hawkins.
Can anyone tell me exactly what clout PALS do have apart from "raise your concern"!?
Hi Taylor9 I agree with rufuscat. Contact PALS. Ask for the clinic manager to sort it for you. They will have had a clinic list which you should ask to have checked along with your own medical notes and any other pt with similar name/number etc.
My hubby had the opposite, he'd been in hospital for a check up, was kept in overnight. had a procedure, and the sec denied he was ever there!
You're absolutely right to push to have it clarified and any clinic worth it's salt should want to do so.
Hi, I have decided, to wait until i see the doctor, i will take the letter saying ive had a review with me , and see if she can sort it out or explain whats happened to me, i dont ant to ring again, as they may class me as a nuisance.
Sounds like my hospital where the surgeons and doctors are brilliant but the admin staff keep losing papers and getting dates wrong (not to mention putting me down for the wrong eye, and fixing my review half an hour before the injection in a building at least 15 mins. walk away). I always write to them about these mistakes (make sure something goes on record) as well as telephoning.
