aspirin and amd

Hello everyone, I have a question. ...14 years ago I has a mini stroke (tia) and was immediately put on a daily low dose aspirin. I bruise very easily ever since. I recently heard that this may cause the constant bleeding that threatens my eyesight via wet AMD. Does anyone know anything about this or have any views? Thanks for any help:)

Dear maryparry,

It is essential that you discuss any concerns with your GP and do not cease to take any prescribed medication. It is up to the medical professionals to weigh up the potential risks and benefits of any treatments on your behalf. They are the ones with the necessary knowledge of your medical history and who understand the impact of any decisions on your health.

Kind regards,

Thank you. It just so happens that I know more about AMD than my G.P.! I have an appt. for an injection on Thursday, though, and will ask my consultant. Thanks again.:)

Hi maryparry, thanks for posting this question. I have just been put on low dose aspirin and have been wondering the same thing. I did ask the Dr who prescribed it, they said "no" but I'm not sure (have been given poor advice from gp in the past!). I have another eye review Sept and will be asking question there - scans should show? I will post any answer I get, interested what you get told.

Take care, x

Hi I have been told the danger of a stroke is greater so advised to stay on the aspirin
