Cost of medication is madness.

I was thinking how lucky I am about not needing to pay for my med's and wondered if others knew about "HC2" forms??

I got my form from my Dr's it isn't to long winded like some I have filled in and with out it I couldn't get the medication that I need, or go to the Dentist, plus as my med's can affect my eyes they are checked more often now too.

I hope this helps at least someone.

Take care one and all :) xx

Can i ask , is this means tested. I have over 20 meds per month and need £300.00 of dentist work doing. As i am on long term sick it's difficult. So HC2 form will help

HC2 is means tested and if you are on certain benefits you will qualify for free Rxs already. I recently bought a pre-payment certificate as I don't qualify for free any more. It's still "a bargain" compared with having to pay for each individual Rx. Dental treatment is avail for low cost to all - you just have to ask specifically for NHS prices (supposedly!). In any case, it's not totally free but there are other benefits to filling in the HC2 as if you qualify they will refund your travel costs (public transport in most cases unless specified by the treating doctor) to and from Hospital Appointments.

It's certainly worth getting a pre-payment cert. if you don't qualify for free prescriptions. It saves me a huge amount over a year.

I agree with you. But don't you think it's a bummer that people with lupus have to pay for meds anyway ??

I too have a pre payment certificate, I could not afford all my meds otherwise. At least the prepayment only costs 10.40 a month

I also have prepayment - a bargain when I have 7 Items of medication to take per day. If you don't qualify for HC2 I think pre-pay is essential and next best thing.

I agree with you Crusher, I do wonder thou if the powers that be could do something about the price of medication could be waved for people with long term problems!!?? O well I can always dream ;) x
