echo cardiogram

Hi, does anybody on here live in Leicestershire, if so have you had a private echo cardiogram done privately? could I ask for possibilities of places to get one, not in the city though. I will have to wait on the nhs for a year just to see a consultant!

Hello, I live near Ashby de la Zouch and was referred by the NHS to the Castle Medical Group on Burton Road in Ashby de la Zouch to have my echocardiogram when the NHS had a backlog just post covid. I was fortunate that I didn’t have to pay. Can you ask for a referral?

It is a small private medical group, it was a lovely place with caring staff, easy and free to park your car and a very efficient service, nothing like attending a big regional hospital.

It is very worrying for you to have to wait such a long time if your poorly so my sympathy to you.

I live near Melton Mowbray and have an annual echo, as I have scleroderma. My echo is done by In Health. They are private sector but it is an NHS referral (i.e. free) as they are contracted to the NHS.

This is who always do my echo and they are at a variety of NHS healthcare centres, my recent one was at Syston, but previously Melton or Beaumont Leys, I presume they are across the whole county. The waiting list is short usually 3-4 weeks from referral. Results are then sent back to whoever referred.

Have you checked if your GP able to refer you rather than a consultant, if that is where the main delay is?

Hi there sorry you have been told you have to wait so long - that doesn't seem right. I would check with your gp that there isn't an option for the nhs to use a private service when the waiting list is long without you paying. I am chasing mine at the moment the referral was made by A and E but now it has got lost between the departments and my gp says it can't come from them! Scary times. Good luck with it. I don't live in your area but near me a private one was about 500 pounds. Take care. 💜

Thankyou, h has referred me to inhealth but they want me to go into middle of Leicester City at 8.20am doing rush hour and I can't face that x

See if you can ask Inhealth for a different appointment or location, as I said, I have had Inhealth at different places. I have had no problems in changing before.

depending where you are located, can you go by public transport? This is how I usually go to Leicester hospitals, I use a bus or train to Leicester then then walk or use the hospital hopper which goes to all the hospitals.

Not possible for me as I use a large mobility scooter
