The Wonky Potter

Hi everyone, I hope that you are all safe and well in this heat? Personally I went out this afternoon in the thunderstorm and stood in my garden until I was soaked. Had I not been scared to frighten the neighbours I would have thrown my clothes off too 😳🙈

I have continued to go to pottery every week and sadly I have not improved but we laugh so much much even though my work tends to end up in the F*** It bucket 😂 This is my latest “ creation” and for the first time I quite like it. Wonky like me but it reminds me of my Findlay.

sending you all lots of love xxx

That's great and you can tell everybody it's a one off piece of art. I stood outside for a bit aswell until the lightning started then I got scared and went back indoors. You know it's hot when your hrt patch loses its sticking power and ends up somewhere on the carpet or on the sole of someone's flip flops

Hi Cc, It's ADORABLE 🥰, I love it.... You did great on the details..🐺 As for dancing in the thunderstorms, I'm right there with you, and so is Storm. Everytime we have one he wants to be out in it. Crazy, lightning, to the ground, and there's storm, dancing in the glory of it all..... Keep posting your creations, they inspire, . Praying you are well, and sending much love and blessings, The Stormy Sunshine 💐😇💖

Bless you thank you. I am not a natural potter. My hands jerk and it is hard to do what I would like but it is a joyous group, we laugh so much and that is better than any pain medication.I have a vision of gorgeous Storm racing and dancing with the thunder crashing and lightening flashing which is majestic. He is claiming his place on the earth!! I am plodding along as we have to don’t we?I send love to you and gorgeous Storm. May you always dance through the seasons xxx

Your so sweet dear Cc. Your vision of storm in fantastic 😊 I have to remember that when I'm trying to convince him to come back inside, as I get drenched, and really I want to do what you did, just put caution to the wind, and join in 😂. Maybe you could possibly pottery him? You really did a nice job on Findlay. I was crafting, but like you my hands shake violently now. Even typing here is hard. I hit a letter look at my reply, and stuttered the letter five times! Like you wrote, and it is so true, just dance through the seasons, best we can. You take care, stay the course, bunches of blessings to you, with techs , abundant always . 😇🌺🤗

I knew it was Findlay before I read your comments. 😆 it’s fab!

We’re away for a few days in Suffolk, no rain here, plenty of sun with me plastered in sun cream and finding the shade at every opportunity. Sea breeze is keeping it bearable.

Hope hubbys knee is still improving and you’re well. X

I was at Ickworth Hall in Suffolk yesterday. Covered head to foot by hat, scarf, cardie, parasol, trousers, etc, etc. 🤣🤣

Really? That’s so kind thank you.How lovely to have a break by the sea. Enjoy every minute. Neil’s knee is still very painful so Finlay is still going with the dog Walker at 8 am. This Saturday they are going to a pond so the Mud Daddy will be ready to give him a good wash. He loves it so much. I am continuing to move more, do more thank you for asking. Enjoy the rest of your holiday but be careful in that sun xx☀️🔥🥵

After all the times I’ve encouraged you to post your wonky pieces, I’m SO pleased you shared this adorable piece with us Cecily. 👏🏻 I love it ! So full of character and movement - the ears are amazing. Fabulous. I hope you’ll share more with us in time.

Totally agree about the weather. My rash is still active and forming big patches on my face and body (not a pretty sight!☹️) so I’m scared to venture out in this blistering heat at all during the day as even when covered with loose clothing, factor 50, a shady hat and sunglasses, I still feel my skin tingle and crawl even if only nipping out to put rubbish in the bin.🥴 So I potter in the garden when the sun is going down and it is much cooler. Going out in the car is even worse when I feel trapped in the sun and even the window screens I stick on the back windows don’t help much. Hubby says he’ll have to get a peaked cap so he looks the part as my chauffeur. 😂 I’m changing a face to face appt I have tomorrow for a zoom. I haven’t been out for over a week and am now too embarrassed to go out with my piebald face anyway. 🤣

Keep up the pottery Cecily. This piece is a real credit to you and Finlay. Looking forward to seeing the next piece. Keep cool! Xxxx

Thank you so very much Spotty. I have made sone horrendous pieces. I made a vase that I wanted to look wooden. OMG I could hardly pick it up but I quite liked the aesthetic but when I decided to christen it the water gushed from it. I did laugh. Neither use nor ornament 😂

I am so terribly sorry about the rashes. They must be very uncomfortable but don’t be embarrassed to go out. Who gives a damn what People think? You are a beautiful woman inside and out and if some shallow ignorant person is insensitive it says everything about how ugly they are.I wore my cropped leggings yesterday and my leg discolouration and bruises that won’t go and bright red patches were on show. Like you I rarely let people see but sometimes our own self esteem and confidence need boosting rather than the anxiety of how others might feel.

Please let us all know how your consultation goes. I send you lots of love and sincerely hope that things improve for you xxx

Thank you so much for your kind words and reassurance Cecily. You are so right. As soon as the weather is bearable enough to go out I will. In the meantime my therapist has arranged a video appt for tomorrow but I’ll definitely have to go in person to the Rheumy next week. I’ll let you know how it goes. Take care lovely Cecily. 🤗 Xxxx

your pottery brought a smile to my face.the heat has played havoc with my lungs.

Sadly I missed standing in the rain yesterday because we were travelling to meet my sister in law. I found I have had to nebulise more and increase Carbocysteine

My husband says I need to see someone.he doesn’t understand the concept of self management.

I hope you are feeling reasonable today.the heat is killing me. X

CecilyParsley profile image
CecilyParsley in reply toOshgosh

I am sorry the heat is so hard for us isn’t it? Yesterday I coughed and wheezed through afternoon tea and my ankles and feet were so swollen I just managed to hobble back to the car to kick my Birkies off. I haven’t had to nebulise at all yet 🙏🏻 but pollen and heat are a dangerous combination. I do hope that you can continue to self manage. I understand what your hubby is saying, mine does the same. I told him if every time I had a problem I saw a GP I would have to camp in the surgery. Xxx

Oshgosh profile image
Oshgosh in reply toCecilyParsley

yes he’s the same.doesn’t appreciate that my experiences have helped me cop.

The GPS are good, but only the senior has any understanding of my conditions.it’s so hard to get appointments,I’ve managed to see him once this year.

I made a list of my problems, which I gave to him.

It saved so much time, I’ll do it again.

I e managed to achieve something constructive today.

I had bloods at hospital then 10 days later at same hospital Spirometry.

It’s a 40 minute drive.

They are now on the same day following each other.

What a relief!

Your pottery is very playful,I love it.I wish I had the energy/courage to try it.

I’m so unartisic it’s ridiculous.

Take care x

Bless you. It is the hardest job I have ever had been chronically unwell and I have managed alternative to secure Units for teenagers and ran Child Protection Teams. I have been transferred to a new surgery and honestly my first appointment with the nurse practitioner gave me so much hope but since then it has gone to hell in a hand basket. I have been ignored, given someone else’s prescription, lied to and patronised. It does not bode well so I cope until I cannot.

Great that your two appointments are on the same day, it is not just the drive it’s the parking, the walking, the tests it all drains you doesn’t it?

The potter looks at me with such disapproval. My wonky rose vase took me weeks and weeks as I rolled 96 roses and attached them to my wonky coiled vase. Then I insisted on glazing it in scarlet which she also disapproved of. I bought the damned glaze myself so I stuck to my guns. When she said it could not be done I grabbed it and dunked the damned thing. Again it is not perfect but I sort of like it. It is hard sometimes because all the others can use the wheel ( it is too low for me to reach) and get praise and encouragement. I have been close to giving up but the ladies there are a lifeline. Look after yourself xxx

Oshgosh profile image
Oshgosh in reply toCecilyParsley

the worse thing for me is to feel I’m being patronised

My GP surgery acknowledges that I’m outside their remit. They don’t always ask the right questions, but we get by some how.

my arms are a mess this week, apart from the usual steroid marks, but I had an infusion of Allendronic acid to help my bones.it was a pain,it went into the tissues twice.

The 3rd attempt it ran ok till the end when it again tissued.

The palliative care consultant who did it was mortified,I kept telling her not to worry.she said I have a sore arm,she wasn’t joking.next at the bottom of my arm was red and sore Germolene to the rescue .

I didn’t cover them up,if people don’t like it’s tough.I’m just relieved to have got it done.

They’re good at prescriptions, you can get appointments with the pharmacist.

I can’t stop flicking onto your pottery,it’s cute.

Please post the picture of your rose vase.above all look after yourself xx

Oh me too. One of the New practice GP’s keeps calling me “ dear” and “ love”. She pats my hand and says “ there there” 🤯. I have to fight the urge to say I am not four. The worse thing is I have had a real problem with internal burning, so bad I cannot sleep. After four days and nights I went to see the nurse ( only appointment available) and she said you need a triple appointment with the GP tomorrow. I was elated perhaps after four years suffering it would be investigated ( my previous GP offered Valium😡). I saw the GP who seemed nice ( if patronising) and told me that she would refer me urgently to Uro / Gynae. I waited three months and rang the receptionist to ask the name of the consultant I had been referred to. Surprise surprise no referral had been made 😡. I asked that the GP ring me. When she did she refuted that she had agreed to refer me 😧. My husband was with me so I told her that. She said fine I will refer you and put the phone down on me. I waited a week and asked for a copy of the referral and she had done it but put standard response and “ drinks” on it. Seriously I have two glasses of Prosecco at Christmas and a cocktail for my birthday and that is it. Such poor practice. I will post a photo of my red pots tomorrow. Thank you so much for taking an interest xx

The best reason to do something is because you love it. If you love pottery, you should keep doing it. Thanks for sharing. The idea of the F8ckit bucket made me laugh.

I am glad I gave you a giggle. I made a huge cocker spaniel once thst took weeks but looked like a cross between a dinosaur and a rhino. I just looked at it and thought no it is so wrong and I punched it hard. Into the f*** it bucket it went head first lol xx

Is that your new name now Cecily..Wonky Potter is quite catchy!! 😉Your coming along nicely and I'm glad you've made a piece that you haven't chucked in the bucket. Well done!! 👏👏We did the same yesterday afternoon about 4ish it got really dark n then BAM it absolutely hammered it down!! It was wonderful..we both got free showers although I didn't go totally out coz I'd have ruined my slippers. I hung out of the back door but hubs was out there starkers!! 😹 I've always loved dancing in the rain..it used to freak my daughter's out when they were younger but now they do it too!! So refreshing 💧🌧️💧Oh n my slippers got soaked anyway!! 😹 💜🌈Xx

Oh that’s anazing. The potter wouldn’t agree she is less than impressed with my lack of skills but I actually like to. I used to love Playdough as a child..I loved the smell of it. Thank you for sharing that it has made me smile xx

That is fabulous Kat. Good for your hubby. I soaked Finlay with the hose yesterday as he was determined to help me with my gardening and was panting hard. Then it rained and I was just standing in it. Neil was shouting come in you idiot but not a chance it felt soooo good, and saved me watering the garden. I don’t think I have any talents at all. I get so much pleasure from planting and yet I don’t get great results. This is my second year and I learned a lot last year so I am hoping and praying for better results. It makes me ridiculously joyful to actually pick something I actually grew and eat it. I probably kill things with kindness lol.

How are you doing lovely? Xxx
