Scientists have made an important breakthrough in understanding what goes wrong in our bodies during the progression of inflammatory diseases and -- in doing so -- unearthed a potential new therapeutic target.
The scientists have found that an enzyme called fumarate hydratase is repressed in macrophages, a frontline inflammatory cell type implicated in a range of diseases including lupus, arthritis, sepsis and COVID-19.
Hi Naladog, thanks for the link which I’ll read later.
Last week I was asked at Rheumatology if I’d take part in research into IMID (Immune-Mediated Inflammatory Diseases).
It’s a collaboration between BioResource & the National Institute for Health and Care Research, which states,
“It aims to help research into cause of IMID and understand determinants of IMID and treatment response. By understanding which genes and environmental factors are involved, and their impact on the immune system, we can investigate why some people get IMIDs, why some of the existing treatments work in some patients but not in others, how better treatments might be developed and whether it might be possible to prevent or IMID.”
I firmly believe that the genes we have are expressed according to environmental factors and because we have such a variety of genes we have such a variety of causes or rather, as humans we endure to a limit.
Until everyone's quota is filled according to their genes and the chronic stress, toxicity and infections they are exposed to.
I have sequenced my genes and in addition to having autoimmune genes, I have antioxidant and methylation deficiency. This means that my body does not eliminate toxins efficiently which contributes to lupus.
I try to take vitamin B for it, vitamin D, calcium, antioxidants, magnesium, zinc, omega 3 fish fatty acid, etc ...and a diet with lots of cruciferous, turmeric, etc, doing exercise (not excessive because after that I get a flare up), speak myself kindly and try to relax because unfortunately I quite perfectionist person ...and I think I'm holding up pretty well 😅
Keep us informed about your research please. It's really interesting and happy to help if possible. 🤗
