I am looking to start a family. I was diagnosed with lupus 5 years ago and am currently taking prednisolone, for pain relief. For those that have had a family after diagnosis how was the process.
Hi , I was diagnosed at age of 12 and was prescribed prednisilone from 12 to the age of 16. I would ask the doctor for a more effective medication as this isnt a long term solution but onluly temporary. I started a family 3 years ago in 2020 and I am 35 now . I was on Hydroxychloroquine from 2018 which doesnt affect pregnancy however due to the pregnancy being high risk I have had to have C section both times.
I was diagnosed 35 years ago in between having my two daughters. I was very unwell with my first daughter (being undiagnosed) and struggled to cope when she was very small. Then diagnosis, then second daughter with a great pregnancy and she was born in January. Then a few months later had a nasty rash from sun on face, arms, legs. The rash was diagnosed as post natal lupus and we ended up at a panel of consultant Dermatologists at Addenbrookes who wanted to see post natal lupus as it’s rare. She improved by the end of her first year. This is the only obvious link for her with my lupus. During all these years I had no medication. Take medical advice but I say go for it and good luck.
