Finally an appointment with Rheumatology!

After what seems like forever I finally had a telephone appointment with my rheumatologist! My last one I had to cancel because I was at another hospital for endometriosis, never happened before but it took over 6 months for them to rearrange and that was a telephone appointment. My physio referral has been lost in the system so is now on priority for a reschedule and I mentioned the foot issues I’ve been having along with the skin rashes/marks/sores. He told me that I have to call the GP to get referrals to dermatology and the podiatrist… surely it would be quicker for it to be done by the hospital than me going to my GP? Tried to call today but they said call in the morning because they’re fully booked, it’s so strange these days I remember when you could book an appointment in advance for referrals now it’s all changed. Oh well reminder is set and hopefully get through in the morning.

It’s good to know that the hip pain can be treated if physio doesn’t work then localised injections which being honest I’d like to prevent but who knows what will happen. Thanks everyone for the advice you’ve been giving me in these past few months, without this community who knows what would have happened! It’s been a very stressful time and still a way to go with finding out if lupus is causing the issues but I guess that’s the way it goes.

Hi Leenie, that certainly does sound promising! So glad you’ve finally got an appointment, and even more glad you’ve got a little bit of hope. I hope it helps you too. As for losing the referral, take heart, I recently had to chase my specialist because he LOST MY FILE! So it happens all the time!

Thank you very much! Yes unfortunately it has happened before with referrals but hopefully the priority will mean there’s not much of a wait like it has been this time. Phoned my Doctors today and got a telephone appointment to get the referrals sorted, not my usual doctor which makes me nervous but fingers crossed I can get them to make the referrals to dermatology and the podiatrist x
