Malar Rash on Medical Records

Hi,

I have been diagnosed with subacute cutaneous lupus. I was wondering if a facial rash/malar rash would be coded on my medical records after having a biopsy on the rash?

Hi Barry. SCLE covers malar rash. Malar rash is one of the diagnostic criteria for lupus. If you have SCLE on your diagnosis list, that’s all you’ll need to guide your providers. Malar isn’t really a diagnosis as much as it a common symptom of lupus.
