No letters here - everyone is to stay at home and only to go for walks within 2-300m of the front door and must remain within the village/town even for shopping unless there is no shop (not many places fulfil that where I live!). We now also must wear a mask when anywhere near other people outside and in shops. I feel safe when shopping - not so sure I would in the UK...

Better safe than sorry I feel.

This information was sent out by four separate NHS units and four Governments. If anyone has not received a letter and believe they should please contact their GP or consultants.

All the relevant information can be found here: lupusuk.org.uk/coronavirus/

Best wishes Kevin

Actually this suddenly makes complete sense of the fact that a fb friend has been making a big fuss about receiving a shielding letter. When asked why she’d received it she said she wasn’t sure but has mild-moderate asthma. This didn’t make any real sense to me because I have friends and family with severe asthma who don’t have shielding letters and wouldn’t consider themselves in this very high risk group.

I think that this FB person may have actually flagged up because she had cancer 4 years ago but has long been in remission.

Yes, as the article says, it's a mess...for those on immunosuppressants, initially it was narrowed down to those on specific meds (high dose and/or long-term pred, multiple meds) to reduce numbers to the proscribed 1.5 million...now there are three times as many volunteers as asked for to help with shielding in England, more letters are going out...Scotland is way behind and with a different system (no self-registering, no datato supermarkets yet)

Best bet is to shield if you can

Thanks for sharing, stay safe xxx

Scotland does now have a system to register by text and this data is given straight to the supermarkets. I'm not sure where you are based so just thought I would make sure you knew x

Excellent, thanks heatherevans! I'm in Scotland...I found the SMS Shielding Service number on the council's website (0786 0064525) but I've not heard of anyone getting the free weekly grocery box and priority access to supermarket deliveries yet? Anything your way? xxx

The number should be on your letter. They've also sent out a second letter with the text codes for delivery boxes etc.

The text service replied to ask about whether I wanted the grocery box but we don't need that fortunately. I do know that people received them though and it started 2-3 weeks ago.

We were already registered with sainsburys online, so as soon as I text the number I got the auto reply but also got a text from sainsburys to say we had been given priority access. Within two days we got an email and we have now had priority deliveries for the past three weeks. x

I am but this isn't a council organised thing so it shouldn't make a difference. Have you got both letters? And the text about food delivery?

Seems I have a new phone friend. Never received so many beeps from my phone since I got it.

Not what you're looking for?
