IMHO there are no safe hairdyes for people with compromised immune systems but that is my personal opinion.

What I will say is that before you use ANY hair dye you must have a patch test to be sure it won't cause a reaction.

Yes that’s right I always do a patch test before, but I do know where you are coming from,

Hi RubyWoo6, I get my color colored about every 4 to 5 weeks. The only time I had a problem was when they switched me to an ‘organic’ dye, thinking it would be better because of my UCTD. But, I ended up with burns and scabs all over my head, especially my forehead along the scalp line. I had them switch back to the regular stuff. I’ve been fine since. A patch test, as previously suggested, is a good idea. One never knows.

Do you have a professional as in hairdresser dye your hair or are you doing this yourself, I want to use home hair dyes as I dye mine myself, it’s difficult as so many chemicals in hair dyes, but I don’t want grey hair

Ruby I go to a salon. I could ask her what she would suggest if you like, but I honestly don’t think she’s an expert in this, though I could be wrong. Maybe they teach this to the professionals since so many autoimmunes lurk these days?

If you’d like, I will text her an ask. Just let me know. Best of luck.

You bet! We need to help each other, right? No one understands what we are going through (physically, mentally, emotionally, spiritually) like we do. Caring for each other is easy. 😁

Ok, I just texted my hair stylist. (She’s a new mom, so I didn’t want to text too early). I’ll let you know what I hear back.

Have you try to get partial highlights? When you do highlights they dont touch your scalp and you can cover your gray hair bc the blond or caramel color. That's what I do. You dont need to do all your hair just the top.

Henna and indigo powder - messy and takes a couple of hours but safe and natural. I buy mine on eBay and prefer organic. Make sure it's genuine henna and indigo, there are a lot of dyes claiming to be natural!

I will only have highlights. Hair dyes can cause a lot of reaction, the dark ones are worse than the fair ones I think I’ve seen written. Alan Lancaster of Status Quo ended up in a wheelchair from a reaction to hair dye. Why not try asking in a salon if highlights or lowlights could be ok to get the look you need. You don’t have to book it or have it done there.

Also you need to check that your face colour and your eyes will now go with the colour you want to dye your hair as often when we go grey the rest of our colouring fades and gets cooler too. (I’m 66 speaking from experience😊).

Is hair dye really worth the risk? But of course it’s your choice as we all like to look our best.

Yes that’s true I’m not sure this hair dye thing is worth the risk might just grow the grey through a very long drawn out procedure

I was advised to use Olia hair colourant and haven't had any problems. I use shade No. 5.3 which is Golden Brown. Make sure you do a patch test first

Certainly

RubyWoo, I’m sorry to be getting back to you so long after your question. My hair stylist, Andrea, just got back to me this second. She apologized for taking so long to reply and she says she doesn’t think you have the same hair color products. I’m sorry I couldn’t help you.
