I haven’t been diagnosed as of yet ( under rheumatologist etc etc for severe muscle pains and a long list of other ailments alongside it ) but I’m wondering what these white spots on my hands are ? They come and go and can be on my feet / legs too is it just poor circulation

They aren’t hard or squidgy it’s just discolouration in the skin like patches of white xx

Hi Aleigh,

I’m not sure I am able to help you I get those as well. When i was first diagnosed, as you can imagine, i wasn’t very accepting of the whole situation. i was getting a lot of those white spots. My doctor said that it is another symptom of Lupus and caused by my nerves. I still get them sometimes, especially when i get stressed.

I really hope you wont be diagnosed and it is just poor circulation.

Good luck

I too have them - sort of like salami. I’m not sure now if I have always had them and am just looking for visual clues for what is occurring under my skin or whether they are relevant. Anyway I have Sjögren’s with hypothyroidism, small fibre neuropathy and Raynaud’s. My hands - especially fingertips - feel as if stung by nettles particularly in these areas

I get them too. I get them too!! I get them on my swollen knees when I am standing. And i get similar spots on my palms but red. My soles turn red some days also. To me it's like infection of the flesh. I thought simple antibiotics could help for a while but it's easier to get antidepressants. Lol

Sorry I sound what I sound.

We will get through whatever it is

Look at some of the things like livido riticulitis or type of vasculitis perhaps.

Mine are similar and my rheumy has noted them as livedo but isn’t much interested otherwise.

In my case, I thought the small flat white polka dots on my arms to be idiopathic guttate hypomelanosis, a harmless and fairly common reaction to sun exposure found usually in fair-skinned people, generally over the age of 40. Of course, your physician would have the ultimate say-so in your diagnosis, and you don't want to risk ignoring a possibly dangerous skin condition. I also have livedo reticularis, and it looks nothing like the white spots. From others' comments, It was surprising to me that these spots may have a connection to lupus. Hmm.

It could be post-inflammatory hypomelanosis, where the melanin-producing cells are temporarily deactivated due to the autoimmune process. Once the activity in that particular place stops, the cells go back to normal. In some cases, it can be longlasting or permanent. I lost the melanin on the crown of my head, which now looks pale compared to the rest of me. I have idiopathic gutate melanosis too, but those spots are permanent as the melanin producing cells are destroyed by an unknown process.
