HAIR LOSS
Hi Naz2005,
Have you been prescribed Hydroxychloroquine for your Lupus?
I am prescribed hydroxychloroquine and although it’s taken months to start taking effect, I now believe my hair loss is slowing down.
Hair loss can occur with Lupus and according to my rheumatologist it can be one of the last things the medication rectifies unfortunately.
I’ve actually cropped all my hair off as it was getting me down constantly fishing hair out of the drain, but that’s quite an extreme thing to do!! I used to have short hair so it didn’t bother me. I can understand that most people probably wouldn’t want to crop their hair though.
Take care x
You will lose hair if you are nutritionally deficient. Some of the meds possibly make this more likely.
IF this is the root of the problem then eating a more nutritious diet and removing junk food may be beneficial.
In fact maybe that should be the start point anyway, as lots of processed foods are inflammatory in their nature, causing a need to take more drugs to dampen the inflammation. The drugs suppress the symptoms by weakening the immune systems response. So weakened immune system leads to deficiencies and the cycle continues.
I have same problem an nothing helps at rate am peeing mine I will need a wig stay positive
Feel your pain think i need a wig to 😥😥😫
Hi Naz2005,
Hair loss in people with lupus is common, people with systemic lupus erythematosus (SLE) and discoid lupus erythematosus (DLE) can both experience this symptom.
Hair loss can also occur due to a number of different factors such as thyroid disorders, stress, medications (such as antimalarials, steroids, methotrexate, leflunomide, and cyclophosphamide), nutritional deficiencies and ageing/genetics.

Hi Naz2005 I hsve hair loss in bald patches, I can live with the hair loss but the itching scalp is driving me mad it is so intense day & night, if I apply steroid gel it just starts itching in a different place. I hope you find a way to stop your hair loss. kind regards
Hi Naz, I too suffer this problem and have found, beyond a doubt (for me at least) that taking daily iodine (derived from sea kelp preferably) keeps my hair healthy and plentiful. When I have become 'lazy' and stopped taking the tablets for 8 weeks or more, the bald patches start to reappear. I'm in Canada but you might find it sold at nutrition stores as Thyroid support. It's a natural product and never interfered with any of my (many) meds. Good luck!
Thank you xxx
Assuming you’re on your immune meds, a new method they are using is PRP injections into the scalp. Lots of priming data! Ask your doc about it or a referral to a dermatologist. It’s usually not covered by ins. But it’s life changing for people with severe hair loss
Thank you xxx
hello,
You might want to consider using virgin coconut oil. It really helps to strengthen hair roots and give you a healthy scalp.
Apart from that, I personally have been taking some natural vitamins and the results are amazing. If you are interested I can make a recommendation
Thank you can you send me details xxx
The one that I truly saw results with was VIBRANCE Healthy Hair Vitamins by EU Natural. It contains 23 different natural vitamins and natural herb extracts and minerals. My hair was thinning out badly, I started taking two tablets with meals and after a few days the change in my hair fall was very noticeable. You can easily get a bottle on Ebay or Amazon or even Walmart. I got mine some time back and they had a 90-day 100% money back guarantee. I hope this helps ))
Thabk you xxx
Hi Naz
Yes I have had significant thinning of my hair..no bald patches though. I cut it off!! Now I have short hair which is much more manageable for me. Virgin coconut oil is great and easy to get hold of..gives hair a nice shine. I hope that u find a way to preserve your luscious locks soon xx
Thank you xxx
