What can it be?

Hi all ,

I have been experiencing swelling in my face for the past 6 months. It comes and goes.

I haven't been bitten, it looks like I have a large abscess. I'm not in pain on the inside or outside of my mouth. It just looks unsightly.

Can anyone help or tell me if they have experienced this.

Could it be a parotid infection perhaps? Have you shown your doctor? If not then you should.

But my first reaction to the answer was

A what? A who? I then goggled it and it explained what it is and I saw images and that is what is going on with my face.

I will make an appointment to see my GP.

I find that when something new happens to me as above it's like, gosh not something else to add to the list so I ignore it unless it gets too bad.

You're welcome. I have Sjögren's and these parotid infections are quite common although I've never yet had one. It is important to get it diagnosed and treated asap though.

A dentist maybe of more help with a parotid swelling/ infection. I was eventually referred to a dental surgeon who was brilliant. This maybe of help sjogrens.org/files/brochure...
