Always take chest pain seriously , you should see a doctor if you are worried, best wishes.

Totally echo what Weathervane has already said - always best to get chest pain checked out. Does your pain ease when you lean forwards? This is a typical characteristic of pericarditis heart.org/HEARTORG/Conditio...

I had pericarditis about 5 years ago and was hospitalised with it. I couldn't lie down with it at all as it was so painful but it did ease up when I leaned forwards in a sitting position.

There's no point trying to guess what your symptoms might be though - I thought I was having a heart attack and then the hospital initially thought I had a pulmonary embolism so please don't leave it and get it checked out - especially as it's not resolving.

All the best.

Hi I was diagnosed with Lupus nearly thirty years ago. In the beginning I had several pericarditis episodes. Indeed the first one was so severe it nearly killed me.That was when I was first diagnosed. I agree with everyone that you should get your chest pain looked into because at first I was even aware what was going on. I used to smoke way back then and I just thought I had smoked too much the day before. But as the day wore on it became worse and worse and my mother and then mother in law insisted my husband took me to hospital because apparently I was grey. After a long painful night I was admitted into hospital. The outcome was I was in hospital for a month having numerous tests and left with my steroids and painkillers feeling much better. I asked if it would happen again and they said they couldn't tell me as lupus is unpredictable. I did have more episodes but only one put me back in hospital. Lupus did used to make life hard. But I have been lucky as my lupus was declared dormant a couple of years ago. So I urge you to get this pain checked out it may be something else but I know from experience that the medical profession prefer it if you get any chest pain checked out. The best to you and I hope you are feeling better soon.
