hi all, for over 5 months now, I have noticed one side of my right foot feels numb to the touch, which was quite worrying because i am also diabetic, but then a friend started talking about issues with my back ( which i already had ) ,because the nerves in the feet connect to the back. please could anyone tell me if they too suffer numbness of the sole of the feet. What's been said, is it being treated or can it be treated, is it dangerous, my Gp didn't really help, said it could be the Raynauds, but.....Mm....please help anyone.

Thanks for your reply. I've been told I may have osteoarthritis in my ankle, but I've had that for a couple of years now , but the numbness about 5 months. I think I have to insist on having an mri, just for peace of mind at least!

I have numbness to the sole of my left foot (and the skin on my left leg) which is peripheral nerve damage from a severely ruptured disc in my lumbar spine. If it's associated with muscles not working in your leg then it's more serious, but they still won't do anything about it until you get bladder/bowel problems........I had to have major surgery when they finally decided it was serious after seeing my MRI.....and the foot numbness is the only thing that has never gone away!

I also have Reynauds but it isn't related to my foot numbness.

Definitely get it checked out with your gp and keep going back if you get any other symptoms such as muscle weakness in your leg. If you get any bladder/bowel problems such as retention or incontinence you should go straight to A&E as its classed as a medical emergency if presenting with back problems and leg symptoms.

I hope it turns out to be nothing serious - inflammation in discs can resolve with anti-inflammatory meds and taking care with posture etc.
