NHS Aylesbury Vale CCG and NHS Chiltern CCG are conducting a review of dermatology services across Buckinghamshire with an overall aim to develop an integrated, comprehensive and community facing dermatology service of excellence.

Skin disorders are one of the most frequent reasons why people consult their general practitioner. If you, or your friends or families, have experience of the current dermatology service, then we would like to hear from you.

The most common types of skin disorder are eczema, psoriasis, acne rosacea and skin cancer, individually affecting up to 15 percent of the population. Overall, there are more referrals to dermatology by general practitioners than to all of the other medical specialities combined.

Dr Raj Thakkar, clinical lead for elective care, said; “Demands on dermatology services are growing due to the increasing frequency of sun damaged skin such as skin cancer.

“There has been a significant improvement in the treatments available for skin problems, therefore the number of patients requiring the service and the expectation of a successful treatment outcome has increased.

“It is important to us to provide the community with the best healthcare possible and by taking a couple of minutes of your time to complete our quick survey you can have a huge impact on the future dermatology service in the county.

“Previous consultations have told us that patients would like to have dermatology care closer to home and that we need to improve access and reduce waiting times for those who need to use the service.

“Now we need to hear from you in order to shape a current service that will enable this to happen.”

The dermatology survey is currently open and available at letstalkhealthbucks.nhs...
