Has anyone had swollen neck I have lupus and emphysema and Hughes.nearly died Feb last year breathing bad all year am on nebuliser 4hourly
You don't say where the swelling is sited - could be the lymph glands, thyroid, a number of things. You say no one knows what causes it but what tests have you had done to check?
What medication are you on for your lupus? If your breathing is so bad it seems that your lupus isn't properly controlled, although I'm assuming that the breathing issues are caused by lupus.
Sorry new to this swelling is my whole neck look like I've swallowed a tyre. Whenever in a flare of any sort i find it is better to stay away from inflamatory foodstuffs. Thats things containing wheat, dairy and sugar and anything that may contain hydrogenated fats.
The closer you stick to a stone age or paleo diet the better. This will consist of foods that have had little or no processing and are less likely to cause food related problems. Plenty of hot drinks without milk and sugar will help to lessen mucus production and hopefully improve your breathing at the same time
Agree with overnight hearing loss my daughter was told by her lupus consultant to stick to a paleo diet basically lots of veggies green juices grass fed meat no processed foods in other words nothing in a packet no unnatural sugar you can have natural sugars, or dairy. She makes her own milk from coconuts or almonds or hemp seeds really easy to do. And after following that for about 12-14 months she has gone into remission she's only on the lowest dose of hydrochoroquine.
Hi,
I also get a totally swollen neck. It first started happening to me about 20 years ago along with general stiffness. At that time I had been diagnosed with an under active thyroid. I know you say you have been tested but it may be worth getting re-tested at some point. I went to the GP who hadn't got a clue and said perhaps some allergy reaction. I tried antihistamines but they made no difference. I am also an asthmatic, but well controlled. Since having lupus & sjogrens (approximately 6 years) it still happens at random. I have recently bought new pillows (non feather). It doesn't always happen during a flare. I have never found out
what it is - I just put it down to a mixture of all the above. I hope you find an answer and things improve for you. Let us know if you get an answer. Good Luck.
