I had a chronic ear infection a couple of years back. The pain didnt go so Neurologist ordered mri and tests. He found no significant arthralgia but conclusion was a problem with my right jaw joint and stroke damage. The painis constant and gets worse when I am having a lupus flare, when my kidneys and hands are affected also. So it could be sle. I am still waiting confirmation of the sle although gp, neurologist and thrombotologist agree I have it.

I have SLE and I get the feeling of a ear infection, and the last time I saw my GP he had a good look at my face etc and said it looked like I had a 'Lymphatic infection' as my face was swollen on one side more than the other, and treated it with antibiotics, it took two lots but it seemed to work, when I spoke to my Rumy consultant she said it's very common with people (ie me) who have ' Sjögren's syndrome' as well as lots of other things going on. I hope this helps, please go back to your GP and ask them to check it out. Good Luck xx
