I've never heard of it misty. I've suffered with sciatica for many years..Its less painful now than its ever been mainly because I spend most of my time at home doing very little..I keep active, I don't sit around but I have to be careful how I use my back. No one's ever suggested it might be down to muscle inflammation...

For the sciatic pain I've had over the years all I could do was rest and take pain killers for all the use they were..even lying down was painful, its been a nightmare..

Hi Chrisj

Thank you for your reply, I'm sorry you've had sciatica for so long , it can be so painful but you've given me hope that it can improve. My form of it is caused by the Piriformis muscle being inflamed rather than the cause being a disc in my back. The muscle is a tiny one in your buttock and it's an uncommon condition . Hope your Lupus is behaving. X

I`ve been diagnosed as having this Syndrome. Don`t know much about it except that it is very painful and I can`t sit down. Am having 3 injections on the 6th Jan and am sincerely hoping they will help.

Hi Sawbridgeworth

It's lovely to find someone else with this probl em but I m sorry you have it as it's so painful, sounds like you feel it more in your buttock as you can't sit down? ThAt's awful !. Good luck for the injections, I have 3 and they give relief to me. Have you had them before ?. It's tough having Lupus as well. Hugs x

Hi Sawbridgeworth

How did you get on with your injections?. Hope they help the pain as they do for me. I 'm needing my next one now! How long have you had Piriformis?. Thinking of you. X

Looks like this thread is fairly old, but wanted to reply "Yes!" to your question. I was diagnosed with SI Joint issues then a follow up diagnosis of Piriformis Syndrome. First it was just on the right and now it's on both sides. The pain is ridiculous and it's incredibly hard to treat (I'm on year 3).

I was also diagnosed with PsA and now Lupus. I had a great discussion with an expert where I live and apparently having Piriformis syndrome and Lupus, while rare, isn't unheard of.

Hi Kat

So sorry to read you have Piriformis on both sides as well as been diagnosed with two other conditions!. That's really tough and painful. You might be interested to know my Piriformis has gone at around year three mark with a combination of exercises and steroid injections!. I've had this help from a Pain Clinic so might be worth asking your GP if you can be referred. Hope your getting treatment for lupus and Psa and it soon helps.X
