Morning!

I have phone interviews with my employers choice of OH from the private sector, called Santia. I have had a number of these as I have been off sick for almost 12 months. They take medical history in respect of the diagnosis on your sick note and ask lotsa questions about how you feel. Just tell them how awful you feel, like for example the things you cannot do, like maybe not walk very far or find it hard to get out of bed. Lay it on. I have to say tat all the ones I have spoken with have been very sympathetic and supportive.

Good luck, please let me know how you get on. xx

Yes and it was a positive experience mainly because my employer was willing to adapt my working environment to meet my needs. Questions were based on how much your condition affects your ability to carry out your work duties and what realistically could be done to make it easier. Its been a while since I went but the result was a new work station tailored to my needs, and ergonomic chair (which anyone is entitled to) new design mouse with roller ball (recommend to anyone with wrist/hand problems) foot rest. Later as my condition changed I was very lucky that my employers followed employment law and did all they could to make things easier for me. At the time they explained to me that grants were available to help, I was also willing the purchased a view items for my use. Be positive say what you can do and could do even better if you could have help with.......whatever it is. Try to do some research with what's on the market. Remember they as employers have probably invested time and training in you they would probably prefer to keep an experienced employee than start again. Try to be flexible but don't be made to feel guilty about your condition and don't be bullied into accepting less than your rights as an employee. Good luck let us know how you get on.

I have had lots of interviews with occupation health when I worked for the NHS. They should actually be help[ful because they are supposed to find out what can enable you to return to work and can anything be put in place to expedite this. I always found them very kind and helpful.
