I started pain relief with gabbapentin last year & this time last year it revolutionised my whole life! I am on the highest dose now! & tramadol! I believe I had a flare in April when I couldn't walk around my own house unexpectedly for a month! & I was prescribed tramadol & I'm still waiting to hear about my Lupus blood test! Gabbapentin was the answer too my prayers ! & I found it was brilliant for my fibromyalgia & gave me a whole new lease of life! Try it! I really hope it works for you!

I think it is the best medicine I have ever been prescribed. It has worked wonders for me. I had a few issues at the beginning with feeling nauseous and dizzy but I then had my dose broken into two, so that I took it in the morning and evening, and I really wouldn't want to be without it now. I think it has had an amazing effect on me. I hope it works wonders for you too :)

Hi. I am one of the rare males with lupus,

I am on gabbapentin of 2,700 mg a day (900mg 3 times a day)

I suffer with a lot of related ailments but chronic lethargy and fatigue with pain or fibro myalgia rule my life, however I have had no side effects whatsoever, but also haven't seen an improvement. Hope this is useful for you?

Thanks so much for your answers. They are very reassuring because I read the info leaflet that came with them and I was worried. I can't handle the pain in my back anymore, its so bad and seems to be getting worse, making me cry on times. I'm willing to give anything a try at this point. I'm also going to have acupuncture and hoping that will help too. Love to all xxxxxxxxxxx

I was prescribed Gabapentin for extreme sciatica (2 ruptured discs). My two sons are psychiatric nurses and they told me not to take it as it changes your mood in a negative way. I felt better when I came off it (mood-wise).

Accupuncture - depends where your pain is, but I had horrible Coccydinia for 18months and was told by my GP there was 'no cure'. There was! Accupuncture! Worked like a dream.

So sorry to be negative about Gabapentin......I know people on it and I can tell by the way they speak and their behaviour - they appear a little 'slow' ....I'm trying to be polite. Blessings x x

Hi I am sorry but I am going to be a little negative, when I took it I found that it made me put on weight and if you are on steroids too that may increase your risk of weight gain even more which is not good for any aches and pains. I was taken off it for this reason but just thought it might be worth mentioning so you can keep an eye on this.

Good luck

my pain dr has suggested I take this have really bad flares and fibro so have had no real sleep for a couple of years now. trying amitriptyline for my mood and for sleeping but may try gabapentin but pitting it off it was used for people who have epileptic seizures as it woks by caliming the body down that's over active. that's why its good for fibromyalgia

Hi tintin49. I have fibro too as well as lupus and that's why ive been prescribed this drug. I really have had enough of tis terrible pain and am willing to give anything a try to be honest. Ive just taken my first one and am hopeful that I will get some relief. I also take amitriptyline but I don't find it any help, it just makes me drowsy but my pain has increased. I'll let you know how I get on. Take care xxxxxxxxxxxxxx

I think it is a bit like marmite - love i or hate it. I had it for my back pain and it had almost no effect on the pain, felt sick most of the time, generally very edgy and twitchy and unreliable bowels, and I put on over 3 stone in just a few weeks. It seems that if you get a good pain effect the side effects are minimal and vice versa. It may be wonderful for you, may be not, but don;t worry it took me lots of tries on different drugs to find the right combination to control the pain, it is do-able it might just take time to find what is best for you

Oh dear Ive been looking into this drug and it seems a lot of people experience a lot of weight gain. I'm worried now. I don't mind putting on a few pounds but some are saying they've put on three stone in a month!! Maybe I should stop googling.xxxxx

I'm taking Gabapentin for nerve pain 900mg daily and have had good relief from it. Do get side effects of drowsiness and confusion but it's worth it for the pain relief. Hope this is helpful.

Hi Misty14. Well I'm on my third day of taking this drug and my pain is much improved. Can still feel some pain but not so near as intense as it was, so much so that I actually went for a little walk this afternoon and it was lovely. Have felt a bit sick and dizzy but my doc told me to expect that at first so I'm sticking with it because I don't want that terrible pain back again. thanks for telling me your experience with it and I'm glad its worked for you. Lets hope it keeps on doing the same for me.xxxxxxxxxxxxxxx
