Covid vaccines and Lupus Flare - up

Everytime I get a Covid shot I get a painful Lupus Flare- up for 4 to 5 months . In the 30 years of having Lupus I have never been so sick as since I have been taking Covid shots . I am thinking I will wait at least 1 year , if not longer for another one .

Please discuss this with your doctor. This may be important for other patients. It may also depend on which Covid vaccine. OTOH, these viruses can be deadly to those immunocompromised.

With good wishes,

Ros

There is more than one covid vaccination. I also know that one particular vaccine seemed more troublesome to people than others.

Many immuno-compromised SLE patients are taking a risk if they don't follow the advice of their specialist. I have seen the severity of Covid with healthy people who decided not to vaccinate.

If you don't want to take the vaccine, that is absolutely your right to make that choice. For me, I follow my rheumatologist's recommendations, including the pneumovax and shingles vaccinations.

Be well!

I'm sorry to hear you experience this.. it's awful. This happens to me as well, every single time I get a booster. I also recently got a flare from the flu vaccine. I keep telling myself that a flare is a better alternative to contracting the flu or Covid. Meh...

Yes true. That is why I keep getting the Covid shots also .

Yes I waited 30 days and got then got my Senior High Dose Flu shot . And I am considering the RSV vaccine also .

But I sure get sick of getting these Lupus Flares from the vaccines though .
