I was diagnosed with CNS Lupus four years ago and it seemed to be irradicated after a year long course of Methotrexate. I have been having mild symptoms and will be asking to go back to my Neurologist next week when I can get a GP appointment. In the meantime, my Mother has been diagnosed with Celiac and I wonder if anyone else has both, or if the two are connected in some way. When I was first having symptoms of Autoimmune disease (prior to diagnosis) - I had severe optic neuritis and tingling/numbness in my toes, i gave up gluten and dairy. I have slipped and eat gluten again and I'm wondering if this is part of the reason I am getting symptoms again.

Welcome!
Both are autoimmune diseases and many people with autoimmune diseases have more than one!
Flares occur often with no rhyme or reason. You have autoimmune diseases in your family which makes you susceptible.
If you know you are allergic to gluten, stop eating it and see if there’s a connection.
I understand how awful this as I have inflammatory bowel disease, a celiac-like condition.
I hope you get an appointment soon.
I am not on my laptop by I will send you a message later.
Please keep in touch as I would like to know how you get on.
With good wishes,
Ros
