Cold weather payment

Hi, Not necessarily health related but wondered if anyone knows the answer.

My mum has terminal cancer, in receipt of attendance allowance, graded high. In receipt of state pension and a few private pensions.

Will she qualify for winter payment, as she is receiving attendance allowance or is it mea s tested?

Thanks

Paul

Hi Paulo1976

So sorry to hear about your Mum, I think the winter payment is means tested, however, if your Mum is terminal she may be entitled to many other benefits and there may be exceptions towards heating costs because of this.

This is the link to GOV UK on the criteria: gov.uk/winter-fuel-payment/...

Your Mum may be eligible for the SR1 form for additional benefits: gov.uk/benefits-end-of-life

Macmillan helpline are open 7 days a week 8am to 8pm and have benefit advisors there on 0808 800 00 00

I hope this helps Paul and you could also contact the Maggies centre 0300 123 1801 who may be able to advise: maggies.org/

If you would like to discuss anything you can call our freephone ask the nurse service on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday and Friday 0900-1600, alternatively you can email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org

Kind regards
