Hi, not been on for a while now but got a problem with Docetraxel, had my third treatment a week ago Monday, as the nurse put the cannula in and flushed with sayline, the tops of my thumb and first three fingers went really hot, no tingleing or anything else nor was there any problem when the drug was put in, two days later i lost feeling inthe very same fingers and this got worse over the week and included swelling of the fingers and back of the hand with very red skin, wont go through the back and forth to Triage etc, but ended up going back to the oncology outpartients who put me on ibuprophen and Hydrocortisone cream for the skin.
Been on this for about 3 days now but no change yet.
Has anybody else suffered this, and if so what was the outcome??
Many thanks
Dave

Sorry to hear about your experience with Docetaxel , there can be side effects of tingling, numbness especially of the fingers and toes, skin, nail changes and the skin on the hands can become red.
We would encourage you to use the acute oncology triage system as they can assess and manage symptoms early. It may be worth contacting them as you have no improvement on your symptoms; with a steroid cream this should start improving within the first few days.
The side effects are often temporary and do improve once treatment is finished.
This link from Cancer Research UK provides information on the side effects and management of these with Docetaxel: cancerresearchuk.org/about-...
Hope you hear from others in the forum who have had a similar experience.
