hi all

we got asked if we would like a dietician (as my mum is a fussy eater and also about high calorie drinks and high protein) etc - but have heard nothing.

we got asked if we would like a McMillan nurse referral but also heard nothing.

how long do these things usually take?

I’m feeling anxious to get best possible advice and info asap to help my mum!

Thanks in advance

I would phone them up and ask how long you have to wait in your area. So important for you to keep advocating for your Mum and to know time frames in your area. You could also speak to your GP to ask them to chase it up or lung nurse at the hospital. Definitely keep communicating and asking questions don’t just wait x

Hi Sharkey1234567

You may wish to contact the switchboard at the hospital and ask to speak to the dieticians to see if a referral has been done. and the timeline for this. Alternatively your Mum's lung cancer nurse specialist can chase this up, if it is a lung cancer nurse specialist your mum is waiting for, you could ask to speak to them, via switchboard and leave a message, as most of them are at clinic in the morning.

If you have no success there, you could contact the oncologist secretary through the switchboard, to ask about the referrals.

If your mum is in hospital, a dietician could see her in the ward. If it is a community dietician and Macmillan nurse, it may be best to check with your Mums GP.

Hope you hear soon and please do not hesitate to contact us if there is anything else you would like to discuss you can email ask the nurse at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our free phone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200 Monday to Thursday 0900-1700 and Friday 0900-1600

Kind regards
