I have had Chemo and immunotherapy. Only 3 rounds though cause it didn’t agree with my kidney. I had stereotactic radio surgery to my brain mets and now I am on targeted therapy. Honestly there is so many new treatments out there!

The most important thing is to stay positive and walk as much as possible!

If you want to know anything, thing like side effects etc, please don’t hesitate to contact me again! Xx

Thank you for your reply. I am currently on Brigatinib since May and so far so good. I am awaiting a further scan in July 22 to see whether it is shrinking the cancer. Fingers crossed.

Hi GymbuddyI'm also new to the site.

I'm 58 and have NSCLC with bone mets.

I've had radiotherapy to both shoulders for bone pain and am starting chemotherapy in a weeks time.

I'm not sure why they're giving me chemo if they can't cure me. I forgot to ask.

😗I'm newly diagnosed so all this is new to me.

Many patients with many conditions are not treated with an intent to cure them - think AIDS, diabetes, asthma, COPD, dementia but to improve quality of life and relieve symptoms. The majority of UK lung cancer patients are detected at more advanced stage but there are many many treatments and combinations of treatments given and many more being approved our health outcomes would be much worse than at present. I found the book 'cancer is a word not a sentence' by Dr Rob Buckman helped me put things into context. good luck with whatever treatments are right for you.
