Continuing on from my last post I gave EGFR but read one of notes that says I have PD-L1 does anybody know anything about it

Ps
EGFR is an actual mutation (epidermal growth factor receptor) within the tumour but PDL-1 levels relate to the protein levels - it can seem like we need a science degree to understand some of this but the long and short of it is that the PDL1 rate is what is used to assess whether a patient may respond to immunotherapy or not. Not everyone responds and it's difficult to predict who may respond as all immune systems are different (as we've been seeing in reactions to recent covid vaccines). I've enclosed a link to information about immunotherapy which has been used a lot in recent years to good effect for those who respond. during the pandemic, immunotherapy has been given in the UK to many patients whose PDL-1 levels previously would not have permitted them to have it clinically but it was done in a bid to reduce hospital exposure through chemotherapy. the results for those patients is still being followed to see what difference this might mean for the long term.. hope this helps.... but do ask your clinical team as nowadays lung cancer is treated in a much more personalised way so what one patient may have might be quite different even if at first it appears they have the same type of cancer (there are several types of lung cancer) if they have different tumour characteristics.... good luck. roycastle.org/about-lung-ca...
