On gefitinib
Dear Miceal58
Gefitinib is used for nsclc and one of the side effects can be reduced energy and strength which is usually mild, your wife has done well being on this for 3 years.
Poor or reduced coordination with weakness in the legs is not a known side effect, however, it may be an unknown one given the length of time your wife has been on gefitinib. Do let the oncologist or lung cancer nurse specialist know as it would be advisable that your wife's coordination should be assessed, especially if this is a relatively new symptom which is affecting her mobility and balance.
If there is anything else you would like to discuss you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or call our freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200
All the best

Does she receive a steroid with this treatment? If yes talk to your doctor about that in addition to the things already suggested. Muscle weakness is a known side effect of steroids. Do call about it sooner than later. Let us know what you learn.
