Liver lesion

MRI requested as CT scan ( due to colitis) showing liver lesion ... Please tell me this is not cancer , I’m so scared . Are all lesions cancerous .

So sorry to hear the concern you have with the CT showing a liver lesion. A liver lesion is a group of abnormal cells or tissues and it is also very common to have a benign liver lesion. As you know the MRI will show a more detailed picture to confirm either way. It is not uncommon for anyone with cancer, that any new symptom or abnormality found may think that it must be cancer. You have not had an easy journey so far and hopefully this will be some good news for you.

Yeah the doctors said if they were really concerned then they would have had me down for MRI straight away as I’m already in hospital so that kinda made me feel a bit better ,so just praying it’s because I’ve got the bowel infection that it’s got something to do with that ..so just keeping everything crossed it’s not cancer related ... thank you for replying back ,this group really is a godsend for me ...

many of us have lesions inside our body that would never be detected except as a result of investigations for something else - I was told I had something in my liver when I underwent a CT and then PET for a lesion in my lung (large mass) that turned out to be lung cancer. I've since been told it's a liver cyst and they watch it every time I have a scan. Now I'm involved in a lot of cancer research including lung screening, I've become aware how many people have lung nodules like moles inside their lungs but in the same way not every mole will develop into something nasty, the same is true of the many lesions elsewhere in our body. Some of which can be the result of scarring from previous infections (in the lungs TB/pneumonia can be the cause - and we have no idea about covid 19 damage impact longer term) but elsewhere can be the result of infection or inflammation. hope you get some reassurance soon and continue with your recovery.
