Length of time between diagnosis and surgery

Hi all, just wondering how long it took between them telling you that you need surgery and the actual operation. I think I'll be looking at at least a month which is frustrating me. Thanks Ian.

So glad they’re moving swiftly for you. That has to be some kind of record around here 4 hours from posting to resolution. Best hopes for a swift recovery.

Pleased you have a date to work towards - at the moment the pandemic has meant surgery appointments have not been arranged for some as per previous protocols. The surgery booklet on Roy Castle website is really practical, easy to read and understand and has suggested hints and tips. One thing I'd recommend is to build up your fitness before your surgery as this will help your recovery too. If you're not already active, build up but at least walk - around your garden, area, house - sitting or lying around is no good at all for your lungs before or after surgery. good luck with your treatment and recovery. my surgery was Dec 2010 and diagnosis Jan 2011

I'd initially shown up in A&E mid Oct 2010 when the 'lesion' was found on my left lung but then misdiagnosed and treated as 'uncontrolled asthma' so no CT scan until second half of Nov 2010, then PET then appointment with surgeon (brought forward by a week) then surgery mid Dec 2010 due to urgency (7cm tumour).

Thanks, If anything I'm probably going over the top exercise wise. Spending a lot of the day either running or cycling because I'm not sure when I'll be able to do it again.

You are wise to be in the best physical shape possible. Also be sure to eat a healthy diet. It will pay dividends after surgery during your recovery. Wishing you a successful surgery and fast and smooth recovery. Take care and stay well. Jean
