Maintenance after 4 sessions of chemo/immunotherapy
Dear 3Avebury
If maintenance treatment is offered , this is usually given after the initial treatment course has been completed. This can sometimes have better outcomes in reducing or managing symptoms better.
The link below provides some information on this, if it is maintenance chemotherapy, specifically on page 11: roycastle.org/app/uploads/2...
Macmillan support have provided some information on this from this link:
macmillan.org.uk/cancer-inf...
For some the maintenance therapy may be a combination of both chemotherapy and immunotherapy. Perhaps discuss further with the lung cancer nurse specialist.
If there is anything you wish to discuss you can either email us at lungcancerhelp@roycastle.org or you can call our freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200
Kind regards

Hi 3Avebury
My OH has stage 4 lung cancer with liver mets and just had 2nd round of Chemo and Immuno (ABCP) and we were told at initial oncology appoint that after 4 rounds of this (and if it had reduced cancer) he would go onto AB immuno only, every 21 days for up to 2 years (max they can give) It seems this is the norm now. Did you have a CT after 2nd round?
Can I ask how you have got on these last few months?
Hubby is 58, fit and well and a lifelong non smoker. So they were hopeful he should have a good outcome. His 2nd CT is in 11 days
Thanks Snoops
