Please don't be afraid they say it does in some families. My dad had lung cancer and it was too late they gave him 6months and he lived till than.. My sister lost the battle she was too late. I'm 70 and 8and half years ago I had breast cancer done mastectomy no treatments. 6and a half years ago got lung cancer stage3in lympnodes I thought I was going to die. I turned down radiation I felt to weak.. I took 6 months chemo I am now a six and a half years survivor. So there's always hope don't give up fight they have new treatments out and more coming it's letting. Stage 3---and 4living longer. What stage is your dad believe look at me it could happen to him. How old are you please don't worry about you getting it. If you need to talk I'm here anytime. Love susiejo1948

Oh that’s a lot in one family. I’m sorry.

I’m 36. I’m just convinced I’m going to get it and die.

Dad is stage 4. He’s just had urgent radiotherapy to his spine but they said he can’t have more due to the damage it’ll cause. Also can’t have anymore chemo x

My mother has stage 4 small cell lung and her father had it too. I’ve been smoked around all my life so also think I’m in for it next. I’ve always had a weak chest - all my life. It’s so worrying. I’m 41 now and no screening for lung cancers. X

There is no known genetic cause of lung cancer. Genetics and genomics are different issues. Genetics is like BRCA1, BRCA2 or Lynch Syndrome. Each is a gene you inherit. Genomics is a study of the the gene to see where it breaks down in the growth and dividing process.

Sometimes people are born with a germline (natural) T790 mutation. It happens in about one in a million births, only one in a million of them will develop lung cancer.

It’s normal to wonder what might happen to you. All life is terminal. Please don’t get so focused on this that you forget to look both ways before stepping off the curb in front of a moving car.
