Hi, it’s been a while since I posted, my Mum was diagnosed with SCLC a year ago she had chemo and successfully it shrunk, we then went for check ups, it had started growing again this time just outside the lung, more chemotherapy and again I thought my mum was doing well , we have just been told the cancer is growing (since jan 19) and is in the lymph nodes by her kidneys, they now want her to have a chemo tablet but can’t see us for 4 weeks - I’m concerned that this is the last straw and she can’t take anymore, she’s convinced that the tablet will not be as effective, I wondered if anyone has had this treatment and how they found it - is 4 weeks too long to wait? Sorry for the long post I’m just not ready to loose her x

Tracyd02, what chemo was your mom on? My wife has 2 litres every 3 weeks and 3 days tablets to go home with. Her SCLC tumor is shrinking.

Dear Tracyd02
Sorry to hear about your Mum and the need for more treatment. Perhaps have a further discussion with the lung cancer specialist nurse on the chemotherapy medication , the potential outcome of this, and that you have concerns about the 4 week wait, especially if your Mum is feeling it may not help or be of benefit to her.
If you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our Freephone nurse led helpline number on 0800 3587 200
Kind regards
