treatment begins...

Its been 4 days since we were told the devastating news that the cancer had spread from mums lung to the lining of her brain, she started steroids the same day followed by a vit B injection and folic acid, Friday & Saturday there was not much improvement but yesterday my mum was feeling a little better, she starts chemo today, I think the shock has subsided for me and the reality of what we are facing has hit me harder than I could have ever imagined.

I have had so many lovely messages which have not only given me comfort but hope and I am holding onto that so hard, I am praying mum responds to treatment and I hope more than anything her symptoms go and allow her to be our mum, our lovely mum, nanny, wife and friend that she's so amazing at..

I feel angry at the world, at everyone that has a mum who isn't ill (how selfish is that of me to even think it) I feel like cancer has come into our lives and is taking the one person we love more than anything, its broken our hearts and has caused so much unbearable pain, it's left the unknown, not knowing whats ahead and I feel like we are now living this nightmare trudging through treacle with every step.

Dear LemonDropsDreamToo

It is normal to feel angry and not surprising given everything that has happened to you all. Selfish does not come into it; you are in great emotional pain, which must be unbearable and overwhelming.

Your Mum sounds like quite an amazing women and is surrounded by great love and support, which will be such a special sharing time for you both. Make the most of the time during the treatment to pamper not just your Mum as you are doing but also yourself in whatever way you can.

There are many encouraging stories on the forum and hopefully you will read some here.

If you wish to discuss anything our Freephone nurse led helpline number is 0800 358 7200

Kindest regards

Hi so sorry to hear the news but let pray that since it was caught early it can be managed well. I know how you must be feeling I'm a mum with lung cancer and also have 2 daughters I try so hard to stay positive for them and myself and have thoughts like you many times. I'm on immunotherapy and doing well at the moment taking each day as it comes and enjoy life which I think you also need to do for your mum. I wish your mum good luck on this path she has to take but remember we are all here to walk that path with her and you. Take care. xx

I can totally relate to this. My mum has recently been diagnosed with lung cancer which has spread to her liver. I feel totally heartbroken. Xx
