Positive Lifestyle change in cancer days .

Today is scan day ,just thorax and abdomen, had a check MRI to brain last month post Stereotactic radiotherapy in May for a brain tumour that was improving somewhat ,I have had lots of aches and pains generally worsening over the last two -three months so I am not sure how things really are ,usually when I have aches and pains nothing is wrong ?just anxious awaiting scan results always make me feel stressed .I think that I feel better from my brain treatment aspects ,recovering well but only in these last few days.Less foggy more focused .

I have changed my diet, juicing once a day ,five days vegetarian and two meat days .I have also gone back to the gymn , rode my bike up and down the back lane and restarted yoga . All very slowly and gently I have never been an athlete just done things to keep healthy .

I have to say taking back some control has made me feel much better even if I am not better physically, psychologically I think this has helped me greatly .There is very little I can do to stop this cancer travelling around my body but I suppose if I can keep physically fit and keep myself positive ,which is not always easy as cancer is challenging, probably many of us feel this way . What ever works is worth a go.

Hi hope your next scan results are good. I had Thorax/Abs but not heard from June. I'm glad that your post stereo is improving you well on your brain. And you are getting back on track with the fitness.

Keep up the good work.

Best wishes

Hoggy

Hi Hoggy , Hopefully you will hear about your scans soon waiting is distressing, but I always think if anything awful is on scan they will contact you sooner than the set time ,someone must see it somewhere .I am just feeling a little better than what I have for months ,just want to get off antiepileptic drugs now I hate taking any meds any meds ,but I am happy to wait a couple of more weeks until I see the oncologist again .Just want to give things time at least its not steroids that I am stuck on ,I know longer take those at the moment thank goodness ,they drove me crackers .I hope your doing ok .Diane

Hi Diane55

Good to hear that you have had some positive results from the Sterotactic radiotherapy and you are taking your own steps to slowly get back to a better quality of life for yourself. It is lovely to read that you are not letting the cancer dictate the life you have , but making small changes that are important to you and not only just benefit your body but your mindset also. I am sure this will be an encouragement for others.

It is understandable the anxiety you are feeling with the scans, especially the wait for the results, let us know how they go and pamper yourself meanwhile.

If you wish to discuss anything you can call us on our free nurse led helpline number on 0800 358 7200

All the best

Glad to read that you're taking back some control about your day to day life - living waiting for scan results can do your head in! :) Eating healthier and gentle exercise (or more active as your fitness levels improve) are all good for your mental wellbeing and proven to release feel good endorphins that will lift your overall mood. good luck with everything and keep on keeping on…. x

You are a role model for all of us. Keeping active both physically and mentally with those things we enjoy doing makes this whole journey better. Hoping for good results from your next scan. Great job on the nutrition.
