My husband is been diagnosed with Lung Cancer. He had X-ray, CT Scan, Pet Scan and the last one Biopsy. At first when the consultant look on the X-ray he told us that he have a big mass and it's inoperable we don't know what's that mean until we wait for all this Scans, Biopsy. At the moment we don't know what to do. My husband keep coughing, vomiting, I think is to do with this cancer or tumor. It shocked both of us, I can't stand when he looked at me and cry. We are in emotional wrick.

Dear salakot,

I am very sorry to hear about your husbands diagnosis.Waiting for scan and biopsy results can be very stressful. In the meantime you should make an appointment to see your husbands GP regarding the coughing and vomiting and he/she will perhaps prescribe something to help. Once the test results are back the consultant will let you know what treatment is planned for your husband and you will get an opportunity to ask questions. You will also have an opportunity to speak to a lung cancer nurse specialist who will also provide you with ongoing support. Please feel free to call our nurse led helpline if we can be of any help 0800 358 7200

With very best wishes,

All the team at Roy Castle Helpline

My mam also has lung cancer, try not to worry i know lots of people who have had this type of lung cancer and have had the tumor removed. They may want to shrink it with chemo 1st prior to an op to make it safer. Lots of positive thoughts coming your way xxx

What I don't understand are, they haven't told us what is the result of the CT Scan and the Pet Scan how the tumour spread. They just say we have to wait for Biopsy result.

The pet and ct scan dont show definate spread. The pet scan shows hot spots that maybe either inflammatory or cancer. Then they do a biopsy in the hot spot areas to rule out spread. It may not of spread it maybe just inflammation that showed up on the pet scan.

Sorry to hear that. The consultant told us they probably phone us by Wed. or Thu. about the biopsy results. It's been 2 months waiting since reading the X-ray.

Yes its taken that long for us too. Its all a waiting game and it very hard to sometimes stay positive, but we must stay positive for our loved ones. Well after the biopsy results he will be seen by an oncologist for the treatment plan. I wish things would move faster as it so hard waiting around and my mind going in overdrive. Good luck with the results & let me know how you get on. Lets support each other 💓
