Why are my mum's legs so weak?

Hi. Mum was diagnosed with s3a LC few weeks ago & is due to start chemo next week. Over the last 2-3 weeks her mobility in her legs has become bad & she's struggling to walk far. She's always been quite active for her age (70). Her feet are swollen. Any ideas? Is it possible that chemo will improve this symptom?

Hi Cakeboss

Is your mum eating and drinking properly, my mum went like this when her appetite was poor. As for the swollen legs it's probably water retention due to inactivity, she needs to keep on the move but when she sit's she should put her feet up.

If you're really worried, given the McMillan Nurses a ring, they're brilliant.

Thanks debjmac. Her appetite hasn't been good (never been that great) & we're trying to make her eat lots prior to chemo next week.
