What happens next will depend on whether or not he experiences progression. Should he ever experience progression they should do a new biopsy and genomic testing.
I’m the meanwhile they will do CT scans on a regular basis to watch for progression.
Is there a chance that with the new biopsy genomic test results can be different than initially? For example if initially EGFR, ALK etc was not present , they could could show up later?
Yes, for that reason they do need to do new genomic testing. Progression indicates that the cancer has altered itself to get around the targeted therapy.
I’m going to provide a link to a special Addario Lung Cancer Livingroom where a panel of patients talk about their experiences with testing. The patient whose story I would Urge you to listen to most closely is Don Stranathan.
Denzie, thank you so much for sharing the video. It is amazing. I watched another one on immunotherapy too, i have learnt so many things. My dad is starting the exact same regiment that the doctor describes in the video with chemo and keytruda. We were debating long time and finally decided to start it. after listening the video i am glad that we are doing it. Thanks again.
They will continue to monitor him with blood tests and CT scans.
