Working on my smile, Susiejo. Will be a lot happier tomorrow when I "fail" the breathing tests and get more O2 and a concentrator to make the tanks last longer! Went away for the weekend and did not have enough tanks with me - ran out on the way home. The concentrator will change tank life from 2 1/2 hours to approx 8 hours!

denzie, lauri how do i go about finding out about the portable concentrater. i can,t afford to buy it do you think medicare or medicaid will pay for it. The tanks are a pain i tend to stay home instead of dragging the tanks around, any info would be appreciated. love susie
Susiejo, talk to your O2 supplier.
I use large (D) and small (E) size tanks. What they gave me yesterday is a concentrator for the tanks. Instead of continuous flow, which makes them run out faster, this concentrator works by bursts of O2 when I breathe; but it also has a continuous flow setting if I get into trouble breathing. The nurse who did the evaluation said I could have a portable concentrator, but the batteries last only 4 hours - not enough time for me since I'm on O2 24/7. Last night was the first time I tried it, and with the small tank I got about 4 hours. For me it is easier to just take an extra tank. I keep a large tank in the car at all times just in case. She also had talked to the doctor and I can go to 3 if the breathing is too tough, but they really want me to do as much as possible on my own to keep the lungs stronger. Don't know if Medicare or Medicaid would pay for what you want, but I don't like the idea of the batteries running out! Hope this helps

Susiejo, I agree the tanks are a pain, but think the portable concentrator would be a pain, too. Either way, we are carrying something around. At first I thought the tanks were a pain, too. But I did get used to them and can change them rather quickly now - it just took practice and doing it enough times.
