6 month check up

Yesterday I went for my 6 minutes month check, blood, scan, and the doc. Exactly one year ago I had a lobectomy and a wedge resection on my right lung. Well 6 months ago they saw a very tiny nodule on my left lung and one on my right. They weren't concerned about the left one, but were watching the right one. Well the one on the right is gone, but the one in the left has grown. He says it's very tiny, and I go back now in 3 months for a new scan. If it has grown we are going to start talking about a wedge resection or radiation. I'm just depressed today, I'm starting to feel this is gonna be never ending.

Palmdalegirl, I am so sorry you have to wait and worry. Of course you feel bad today, you got potentially bad news. Allow yourself to feel what you feel for now, it is a natural reaction to hearing that things are uncertain again. No one here will blame you!

But, you also got some very good news. So once the cloud lifts for you, hang on to that, 3 months from now you may very well hear more good news. I know, easier said than done. It is definitely a roller coaster ride that no one wants to take. Just take care of yourself and try to enjoy the time between now and then. Each moment counts.

I'll use today as my crying day, and tomorrow I will get back in to my positive thinking space. Thank you for your kind words. That's always a good pick me up.

I understand how you feel. However, my oncologist said that because they are doing the scans and testing at regular intervals, the odds of finding and treating the cancer is much better.

We, who have been through radiation, chemotherapy, and surgeries don't want to ever hear the 'C' word again but the odds are against us.

I pray you will not dwell on the news in a bad light but be thankful that it has been detected and may be curable at this point. Many don't have that reassurance in their journey through this horrible disease.

I also pray for complete healing of the cancer in your body and that God will give you strength to accept the doctor's diagnosis.

I understand how you are feeling. I have been following a small, very slow growing nodule in the same lung as my lobectomy. My oncologist is not concerned but I am, so I'm scheduled for the third c t scan since it was discovered. The scan is scheduled for Oct, 3 and the doctor's visit on Oct 9. Scanxiety is slowly growing. Once the test and results are completed, I will either be relieved or facing more tests and possibly treatment. The uncertainty is unnerving and normal under the circumstances.

I wish you well and that your next scan has good news. This is a bumpy, nerve wracking journey that we're on.

I hope this helps.

Good luck, Jean. The waiting must be akin to nails down a blackboard - there and impossible to ignore. Sorry.
